Defeat monsters by typing — and genuinely get faster with every battle.
Overview
TypeRealm turns typing practice into an RPG adventure. You battle monsters by typing words — each correct word is an attack, each defeated monster drops XP, gold, and gear. Climb through themed regions, beat their bosses, and watch your hero grow.
The twist: while you're leveling a hero, you're genuinely getting faster and more accurate at typing — a real skill that carries over to school, work, and code. Think Duolingo meets Final Fantasy. Every session gives you two rewards at once: in-game progress, and a real-world skill you can measure.
Features
Words are your attacks. Damage scales with your real speed and accuracy; a clean, fast run hits far harder than a sloppy one.
No pay-to-win, ever. A skilled player with no gear beats a slow player with maxed gear. We tuned and stress-tested the math to guarantee it.
TypeRealm tracks your words-per-minute and accuracy over time, so you can see yourself improve week over week.
Practice the vocabulary you care about. Launch ships with a free Common English pack, with study and language packs on the way.
Six hero classes, each rewarding a different style: long-word power, pure speed, perfect accuracy, combo chains, survival, or lightning-fast reflexes.
Six gear slots across five rarities. Gear sharpens your hero — but it amplifies skill, it never replaces it.
Fight through the Forest of Beginnings, the Echoing Caves, and the Windworn Plains — each ending in an elite and a boss that tests your real speed.
Designed for thumbs and bite-sized 2–5 minute battles. No account, no ads, no internet required.
On the roadmap: cloud sync across devices, leaderboards, the Endless Tower, weekly community bosses, more word packs (IELTS, medical, languages), and a web version.
How to Play
A slime blocks the forest path. The word "treasure" appears. You type it clean — eight taps, eight points of damage, the slime staggers. Miss a letter and it hits back. No auto-battler, no waiting, no paying to skip. Just your thumbs, the screen, and a realm full of things to defeat.
A word appears; type it to strike. Every clean keystroke lands as damage.
Miss a letter and the monster hits back. Speed and precision are your only weapons.
Beaten monsters drop XP, gold, and gear across six slots and five rarities.
Climb regions, beat bosses, and watch your real words-per-minute rise alongside your level.
Regions
| Region | What awaits |
|---|---|
| Forest of Beginnings | Your first steps — slimes and forest creatures, ending in an elite and a boss. |
| Echoing Caves | Deeper trials with faster enemies that punish sloppy typing. |
| Windworn Plains | The final test, culminating in the Gale Warden. |
From the Developer
I've tried to "practice typing" more times than I can count, and I always quit — the trainers feel like homework. A row of words, a timer, a percentage. There's no reason to come back tomorrow.
But I'll happily grind an RPG for hours. So I asked a simple question: what if getting faster at typing was the leveling system? What if every word you nailed dealt damage, dropped loot, and pushed you toward the next boss?
That's TypeRealm. I built it solo in Flutter, mobile-first, with one hard rule I refuse to break: skill has to matter more than anything you can buy. No pay-to-win, no loot boxes, no shortcut past your own two thumbs. If you get better, your hero gets stronger — because you actually got better.
TypeRealm is live now on iOS and Android. If that sounds like your kind of game, download it and let me know what you think — your feedback still shapes the realm.

Data Deletion
TypeRealm stores all of your data locally on your device — there is no account and no server-side copy. To delete everything:
Either step permanently removes all progress, stats, and settings. Because we hold no data on our servers, there is nothing further for us to delete. (When cloud save launches, this page will add a request form for cloud data.)
