Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. Later works with no account, no server, and no cloud sync — everything lives only on your device.

Can I read a sealed letter early?

No — not even you. A sealed letter is encrypted and unreadable until the date you chose arrives. That's the whole point: no peeking, no undo.

What happens if I lose or reset my device?

Any letters you haven't exported are gone for good — Later stores everything only on your device, by design. Export manually from Settings if you want a backup, and see the Terms of Service for details.

Does Later use AI or read my letters?

No. There's no AI reading, analyzing, or summarizing anything you write. It's just you and your own words.

How do I keep my letters private?

Lock the app behind a PIN or Face ID / fingerprint. Everything is encrypted on-device, so only you can open it.

What are Feeling Threads?

A way to revisit every letter you've written under the same feeling — even ones written years apart — strung together as one thread.
